*The aim of the research was to determine of mechanical properties of wood poles for overhead lines. For this research a new approach for measuring large deflections and deformations was used. Due to the impossibility to measure deformation by well-established methods (potentiometers) an innovative solution has been proposed - by a few reflective prisms placed around the measured pole and at its peak using a total station. It was possible to shoot deformation of test column in a 2D plane.
