    This paper deals with a technique for monitoring of building constructions. The main activity within this work was experimental research focused on the integration of optical fibre sensors (Fibre Bragg Gratings) into the structure of beams made of glued laminated timber and concrete directly during their fabrication process. Dimensions of the beams correspond to the dimensions of the real construction elements. The mechanical loading tests of the analysed beams were performed; the mechanical strain measured by optical fibre sensors has been compared with the readings from extensometers (wooden beam) and strain gauges (concrete beam), as well as with the analytically calculated values. The achieved results proved good agreement between the measured data, analytical data and reference methods.
