Concrete Structures for Sustainable and Resilient Built Environment
Original language description
Recent developments and changes in natural and socio-economic environment require new technical solutions for construction of new and reconstruction and modernization of existing structures. Buildings, infrastructure and all built environment should be better prepared for new conditions – they should be sustainable and resilient. Concrete gradually becomes building material with high potential for such new technical solutions resulting in needed environmental impact reduction and consequent social and economic improvement. Mechanical properties of concrete create opportunity for designing structures that are more resistant and resilient in the increasing number of extreme natural and climate effects and disasters. The paper presents implementation of sustainability approach into a new fib ModelCode 2020 (MC2020) as a contribution of fib to solution of Sustainability Development Goals specified by United Nations in 2015 as a plan of action up to 2030.
