The Durability of Recycled Aggregate Concrete Containing Recycled Masonry Aggregate

  • Original language description

This paper presents research results of recycled aggregate concrete testing. The main aim of this contribution is the verification of physical and mechanical properties and durability of concretes where natural aggregate is replaced by recycled masonry aggregate originated from construction and demolition waste. The mixtures contain various amount of cement and have a different water-cement ratio. The influence of recycled masonry aggregate and various amount of cement to physical and mechanical properties and freeze-thaw resistance is described. The compressive strength and flexural tensile strength were tested at the age of 28 and 60 days and after 25, 50, 75 and 100 freeze-thaw cycles. Cubic and prismatic specimens were examined. The results showed the expected negative impact of the recycled masonry aggregate on the freeze-thaw resistance of concrete. Furthermore, this durability characteristic was influenced by the amount of cement and water-cement ratio.
