Report on power system reliability enhancement and flexibility
Original language description
The energy sector is changing according to the technical, legal, market and environmental macroscopic trends and policies. Aside others, the volatility of power flows in the pan- European power network increases due to continuous penetration of renewable energy sources, which increase a need of sufficient volume of ancillary services. However conventional power plants providing ancillary services are smoothly closing and replacing by renewable energy sources, whose reduces volume of useable sources for available ancillary service needs. Reliable and secure operation of power networks in the light of these unprecedented changes stand for a highly challenging task.
