Influence of metakaolin addition on fracture properties of refractory concretes reinforced with basalt fibres
Original language description
The refractory concrete of calcium aluminate cement, in which partial replacement of this cement by metakaolin was applied. The results have shown that metakaolin addition increase concrete strength after drying at 105oC and after heat treatment at 600oC and 1000oC as well. Also basalt fibres have advantageous influence, particularly on flexural strength. However, there is a weak correlation of measured strength with these additives, thus the following addition of these materials is proposed: metakaolin 20% replacing cement, basalt fibres 0,5% by volume of concrete. The fracture energy determination, using tensile splitting strength measurements, has shown that it is increasing with fibres addition.
