History Radon Geology Connections
Original language description
In the second half of the 20th century uranium was accepted as a strategic raw material and prospecting for uranium deposits became very intense. One of the prospecting methods was placing a deposition foil at the depth of about one meter and then measuring the surface activity caused by 218Po deposited on it. Other sources of information about radium concentration are results of gamma dose rate measurements. There exist both the correlation between geologic characteristics – uranium (radium) content in soil (gamma dose) and radon in soil and the correlation between global estimation of radon risk emission and radon in underground water.
