Pedogenic Modification Dominantly Influence on Magnetic Properties of Siberian and Alaskan Loess
Original language description
The use of magnetic susceptibility as a tool for tracking paleoclimate is now firmly established. Observations in Siberia and Alaska yield an opposite sign of the relationship, magnetic maxima occurring in glacial loess slayers alternating with minima ininterglacial paleosols. Various magnetic minerals in loess and well-developed soil in Alaska and Siberia supports pedogenic modifying model. That were due to too wet condition during interglacial periods leading topsoil in reducing environment that magnetite/maghemite is finally converted to iron sulphide greigite.
