Original language description
Suspensions showing significant changes in rheological properties under electric field have attracted much attention in science and engineering. The effectiveness of ER fluids, however, is not acceptable, therefore these materials deserve intensive research in the structure-properties relations. The aim of the investigations presented was to establish the role of the shape and size of the filler particles in silicone oil-based electrorheological suspensions. With the help of a modified Couette type rheometer and RLC bridge electrorheological and dielectric properties of 20% suspensions of four inorganic model powders were measured at room temperature.
