  • Original language description

    Cometabolism-based trichloroethylene (TCE) biodegradation under aerobic conditions is described in this paper. Activated sludge from a wastewater treatment plant was used for inoculation of cultivation reactor. Cultivation of a microbial suspension proceeded under semicontinuous conditions on phenol as a sole carbon and energy source, and TCE-biodegradation ability of the suspension was subsequently observed in kinetic tests. Mixed microbial culture proved its capacity to remove TCE.
