  • Original language description

    3-Thiocyanato-2,4(1H,3H-)quinolinediones react with water to give 4-hydroxy-2(1H)-quinolin-2-ones and hypothiocyanous acid. Also other nucleophiles attact title compounds at the sulfur atom and thiocyanato group in transferred to nucleophile. By this manner, S-cyanothiohydroxylamines were prepared from aliphatic aminex, p-thiocyanatoanilines from anilines, and alfa-thiocyanato derivatives from Wittig reagents. Thiols are oxidized to disulfides.
