Original language description
Electrorheological (ER) behaviour of suspensions of three model inorganic particles with different size and shape - flaky talc, granular aluminum hydroxide and globular titanium dioxide - coated with a polyaniline (PANI) overlay is presented. In the suspensions of uncoated particles in silicone oil, the particle size and shape influence the character of the organized structure produced under electric field and, consequently, the flow properties. After coating the particles with PANI, the electroviscosity at high field strengths is comparable for all three samples. This means that the effect of surface PANI layer becomes dominant and the particle nature only represents a marginal factor.
