Advantages of Organoclay Nanocomposites Based on Polyvinychloride
Original language description
Nanocomposites can yield large improvement in physical properties such as tensile, modulus, heat distortion temperature and barrier properties without a significant loss of optical transparency, toughness or impact strength.1, 2 Furthermore this materials are readily recyclable. A lot of polymer/clay nanocomposites has been studied to date. Les attention has been given to PVC/clay nanocomposites, although polyvinylchloride (PVC) is the best known and the most widely used vinyl plastic.3 Plasticized PVChas been used for numerous applications including films, sheeting, cables, flooring and others.4 As the nanofiller were used Cloisite 30B and Na+ in PVC nanocomposites. Both cloisites were intercalated or co-intercalated with PVC plasticizers, both low molecular and high molecular. All samples were prepared by KO-kneader in melt condition. The prepared materials were tested for E-modulus, abrasion resistance, flame resistance, water vapour transmission (WVT) and migration of plasticizers
