Original language description

The paper examine the creation of Economic Value Added (EVA) in selected Rubber and Plastic processing industries in the Czech manufacturing sector. The study reveals that although the number of companies creating economic value is increasing over the years, the progress is very slow. Though factors such as adoption of new technology, product diversification, replacement of old and obsolete equipment, financial stability, enhancing professional skills of employees, etc., helped in the creation of economic value in a few selected companies, small profit margin, high cost of equity, and low return on equity are the factors responsible for the destruction of economic value in most of the companies in the Czech Republic.
