    Joining composite materials and metals is an important scientific issue, because traditionaly used joining technolgies are not directly transferable to the composite structures and metals. Adhesive bonding is one of the ways to join dissimilar materials,namely composite and metal, and also offer an alternative to mechanical fastenint. This review is focused on the present state of the art of adhesive bonding technology and particularly on basic principles of currently accepted theories describing the phenomenon of adhesion.
