Ecological Adhesives
Original language description
The principal objective is to allow for formulation of adhesives or resins with partial replacement of urea formaldehyde, melamine-formaldehyde, urea melamine formaldehyde, and phenol formaldehyde which apart from health and safety impacts upon workers and subsequent disposal, are also relatively expensive. These compounds are also produced in large volume giving rise to a potentially large market for a developed protein hydrolysate derived. It is assumed that the addition of hydrolysates within the adhesive composition (or resin composition) will substantially reduce the free formaldehyde and phenol contents of adhesives. We have preliminary tested isopropyl amine (as alkali agent) protein hydrolysates added to several commercial produced aminoplasticresins. Improving mechanical properties of adhesive connections (up to 200 %) and decreasing of free formaldehyde contain (up to 60 %) have been reached. We suppose this trend of application of protein hydrolysates produced from tannery
