    Volume Relaxation Rate in a-PMMA and a-PMMA/PEO Amorphous Blends

    Volume relaxation in a-PMMA and a-PMMA/PEO amorphous blends was investigated by employing a mercury-in-glass dilatometrer after a temperature down-jump from equilibrium above Tg to an aging temperature below Tg. From volume contraction isotherms, volumerelaxation rate, b = dv/dlog t, was determined as a parameter quantifying the rate of volume changes, when v is the volume and t time. The addition of PEO into blends has been found to considerably increase b.

    Objemová relaxace a-PMMA a amorfní směsi a-PMMA/PEO byla měřena pomocí rtuťové dilatometrie po teplotním skoku směrem dolů z rovnováhy nad Tg. Z izotermních objemových relaxačních křivek byla vyhodnocena objemová relaxační rychlost, b=1/v(dv/dlogt), kdev je objem a t je čas. Přídavek PEO ve směsi vede k výraznému zvýšení b.
