    The effect of modification on the flow behaviour of PP/PET blends

    The compatibilisation of immiscible PP and PET blends was carried out by using maleic anhydride in absence of peroxide initiators. From the findings obtained, a positive influence of compatibilisation can be seen, firstly from SEM study revealing finer phase structure, secondly from increased viscosity values of modified samples compared to binary blends, which are believed to result from enhanced interactions between blend components, and finally from the increase in elastic properties reflecting the contribution of the interphase created in the system. To improve the processability of PP/PET blends, two elastomeric modifiers (epoxidised styrene-butadiene-styrene and silicone/acrylic-based one) were used. Their addition leads to a significant increasein viscosity, which can find an application in extrusion or other processing methods.

    Tématem příspěvku je kompatibilizace nemísitelných směsí tvořených polypropylenem (PP) a polyetylentereftalátem (PET) za použití malein anhydridu bez peroxidické iniciace. Z dosažených výsledků lze shrnout, že zlepšená kompatibilita se projevila jednak ve zlepšení fázové struktury, dále pak ve zvýšených hodnotách elastických a viskózních charakteristikách. Dále bylo cílem posoudit vliv modifikátorů elastomerní povahy, které vedou ke zlepšení zpracovatelnosti PP/PET systémů.
