    Volume Relaxation in Amorphous and Semicrystalline PET

    Several samples of polyethyleneterephthalate (PET) in respect of their crystallinity were investigated, from pure amorphous, the samples with different content of crystalline phase to fully crystallize one. DSC analysis and mercury-in-glass dilatometry were used to determine the effect of crystalline phase content on the behavior of amorphous phase. Such thermal analysis show that the presence of crystalline phase results in significant changes of thermal properties, such as an increase in Tg, broadening the transition zone, and smaller change of thermal expansion coefficient and heat flow in glass transition region. Finally, volume relaxation data were determined as direct measurement of volume contraction during isothermal stage below its glass transition temperature together with its evaluation from heating scans of relaxed PET by integrating of peaks in thermal expansion coefficient. relaxation times can be mentioned.

    Několik vzorků PET s různou krystallinitou bylo zkoumáno pomocí DSC a rtuťové dilatometie. Vliv krystalů na termické vlastnosti amorfní fáze byl determinován. Tg roste spolu s rozšířením Tg přechodu. Změna v hodnotě cp a coeficientu teplotní roztažnostiukazuje na přítomnost imobilizované vrstvy polymeru na povrchu PET krystalu. Objemová relaxační odezva je významně ovlivněna krystalinitou. Píky v roztažnosti byly naměřeny posouvající se k vyšším teplotám a zmenšující se s krystallinitou.
