A new concept of prooxidant additives for polyolephine based materials
Original language description
Polymer scientists in collaboration with the producers introduced a new concept of prooxidant additives for polyolephine based materials, promising controlled degradation during the product?s life cycle and subsequent environmental biodegradation. Whilethe abiotic part of the process seems to be under control, the biodegradation is not completely proved and understood, especially because of the apparent slowness of the process, where experiments can easily span two years. Data and experiences from longterm laboratory testing are presented. Our result confirmed that significant part of the polyethylene was biodegraded still the extent and rate of the biodegradation is not fully satisfactory.
