Tribological properties of vapor grown carbon fiber and carbon fiber reinforced polyimide composites
Original language description
The purpose of this study is to investigate the tribological properties of polyimide (PI) filled with pitch-based carbon fiber (CF) and vapor grown carbon fiber (VGCF) for mechanical sliding parts such as gears, bearings, seals, etc. VGCF/PI and CF/PI composites were prepared by dry mixing process and compression-molding. Bending properties, Barcol hardness and tribological properties under two types of testing using a ring on plate typed sliding wear tester were evaluated for these composites.
