Improvement of Mechanical and Termomechanical Properties of Polyethylene by Irradiation Crosslinking
Original language description
The main objective of the study is investigation of mechanical and termomechanical properties of polyethylene. These properties were examined in dependence on the dosage of the ionizing beta radiation. Non-irradiated samples and those irradiated by dosage 15, 30, 45, 66, 99, 132 and 198 kGy were compared. Radiation cross-linking of polyolefin?s results in increased mechanical strength, heat resistance, and breakdown voltage, and improved insulation properties, particularly at high temperatures.
