Description and Optimizing of Polypropylene Blends Flow Behavior for Foaming Processes
Original language description
Production of polymer foams is significantly affected by rheological properties of source materials. Shear flow behavior as well as elongational viscosity at given processing conditions plays a key role in the final foam morphology. In this study, various compositions of high molecular weight and high melt strength polypropylenes were blended and foamed. Strain hardening behavior of unfoamed samples was investigated by elongational viscometer. A special slit die was used for shear viscosity measuring and foams production. The morphology of foam was significantly influenced by both melt strength and melt shear viscosity.
