PRESSURE DEPENDENT FLOW BEHAVIOR OF LINEAR HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT AND BRANCHED HIGH MELT STRENGTH POLYPROPYLENE BLENDS
Original language description
Production of polymer foam is dramatically affected by rheological properties of processed materials. Pressure and temperature conditions during polymer processing play a key role in the final foam morphology. In this study, various compositions of linear high molecular weight, and branched high melt strength polypropylenes were blended in twin screw extruder. Pressure dependent shear flow behavior of the tested materials was determined using modified on-line and off-line capillary rheometers. Viscositydata determined via capillary rheometer supplemented with backpressure chamber was compared with data evaluated on extrusion rheometers equipped with modified slit die. Obtained dependencies of shear flow behavior on processing conditions were analyzedin order to optimize blend compositions regarding their following use in foaming processes.
