Testing Microcrystalline Corundum during Grinding of Hardened Steels
Original language description
The paper reports on the effect of abrasive type on the cutting forces during grinding. Standard abrasive (white electrocorundum) grinding wheels are compared with a mixture of microcrystalline corundum - SG corundum and white electrocorundum. The abrasive type influences the size of the cutting forces, the heat quantity and the quality of the final surface significantly. High efficiency can be obtained with the powerful type of abrasives only. These materials must be able to work with high cutting efficiency under critical conditions and must provide sufficient results of roughness and cutting forces.
