Plasma assisted improving sensitivity for organic vapors sensing element base on carbon nanotubes networks deposited on interdigitated electrode
Original language description
The multiwall carbon nanotubes networks were used as a sensitive layer for organic vapor detection. The network sensitive detects vapors of organic volatile compounds, VOC. The sensitivity of response is measured easily by change of network macroscopic resistance. The selected solvents had different polarities and volume fractions of saturated vapors. The network electrical resistance increases when exposed to organic solvent vapors, and a reversible reaction is observed when the network is removed fromthe vapors. The networks were modified by plasma treatment. For this modification RF plasma in O2 at 50 Pa and afterglow configuration was used. This method shows increase of sensitivity caused by creating carboxylic group on carbon nanotubes surface. It leads for example to enhancement in sensitivity from usual 30 % for heptane at RT to more than 200% after plasma treatment at O2 for 10s.
