Original language description
The research examines how beta radiation acts upon polyamide 6. The samples for testing were injection moulded and indentation hardness, indentation elastic modulus, indentation creep and deformation work were measured. The influence of low doses of beta radiation on micromechanical properties was subsequently compared. It was found out that the most suitable radiation dose for cross-linking of virgin PA 6 with the addition of cross-linking agent is the dose of 99 kGy, which causes the improvement in all measured micro-mechanical properties. Higher doses are not needed, they cause the gradual lowering of micro-mechanical properties as a result of the degradation caused by the radiation.
