Reexamination of Newtonian Fluids Inkjet Printability Assessment Models Using Dimension-less Correlations
Original language description
Ink-jet printing plays an important role in the world of printed electronics, deposition of functional materials or precise shape and resolution patterns. The most important step is formation of a single drop without any undesirable effect. The drop formation during printing process can be characterized by dimensionless numbers. These criteria are calculated from parameters including material (viscosity, density and surface tension), process (velocity), and tool (nozzle geometry) parameters. Several approaches have been already described using plots in coordinate systems given by two dimensionless numbers. These diagrams are most successful for description a printing inks showing Newtonian flow behavior. In our work, we reinvestigated older approaches in order to analyze more the driving force behind what is called “good printability”.
