Conductive polyaniline/PVA scaffolds: biocompatibility study
Original language description
Bioelectricity plays a crucial role in a variety of cellular processes, such as cell division, cell signalling and differentiation, as well as on the tissue level, e.g., in wound healing or angiogenesis. Emerging knowledge about role of bioelectricity in the physiology has led to the application of conducting materials in regenerative medicine, the tissue engineering of electrically excitable tissues and in the field of biosensing. Conventional materials however demonstrate number of disadvantages, for example different elasticity. Polyaniline cryogel is a new unique macroporous form of polyaniline combining its intrinsic electrical conductivity with the suitable material properties of hydrogels.
