Pernstejn women and Europe
Original language description
The exhibition shows how modern aristocratic women contributed to the formation of European cultural identity. As an example, we chose a member of the Pernštejn family. The basis for the screenplay of the exhibition was a book by Pavel Marek, head of the Department of Historical Sciences, Faculty of Arts, University of Pardubice. The presentation of the exhibition at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg is not accidental, as the last generation of Pernštejns was truly a European family with a family spread from the Pyrenees, through Italy to Prague. Thanks to these ties, the Pernštejn Palace in Prague became an important focus, from where the cultural influences of the Romanesque Mediterranean penetrated into the Czech space. It was not only about the so-called high culture, ie literature, music or fine arts, but also about matters of everyday life, such as gastronomy or fashion.
