This article presents a general overview of information security and its core concepts. Computer security is an important field of computer science concerned with the control of risks related to use of computers. This paper speaks about basic rules and describes how these can be applied to achieve network and computer security. The field of information security has grown and evolved significantly in recent years. As a career choice there are many ways of gaining entry into the field. It offers many areas for specialization including Information Systems Auditing, Business Continuity Planning and Digital Forensics Science, to name a few. Most of the paper is dedicated to end-users, their most frequent mistakes and lack of knowledge as the end-user is crucial for computer security

Czech description

Příspěvek pojednává o problematice informační bezpečnosti. V úvodu seznamuje čtenáře s pojmem informační bezpečnost, co zahrnuje, jak se projevuje. Spolu s nárůstem uživatelů, kteří mají přístup do celosvětové sítě, stoupá i počet bezpečnostních incidentů, kterých se uživatelé dopouštějí svou nedbalostí, neznalostí nebo úmyslně. Vzhledem ke stále se zvětšujícímu počítačů existuje reálná možnost, že přes všechna preventivní opatření dojde k narušení bezpečnosti počítače, uživatel tento problém nezaregistruje včas a počítač je napaden a zneužit k dalším útokům. Při zjištění vzniklého bezpečnostního incidentu je nejdůležitější rychlá a adekvátní reakce. Rovněž jsou zmíněny možné formy bezpečnostních incidentů a způsoby jejich řešení. Na druhou stranu se příspěvek zaměřuje na to, aby se zájemce co nejvíce poučil, aby se v budoucnosti vyvaroval chyb.
