The evolution in education and training at a distance can be characterized as a move from distance learning to e-Learning and m-Learning (mobile learning). Handheld devices are emerging as one of the most promising technologies for supporting learning and particularly collaborative learning scenarios; mainly because they offer new opportunities for individuals who require mobile computer solutions that other devices cannot provide. The paper presents the details of using mobile devices and wireless technologies that could be used for m-learning in education and training. Article explores the possibilities and presents vision of the new classroom, one in which mobile phones are a key learning tool. Mobile technologies are a future in e-Learning technologies.

Moderní forma vzdělávání pomocí ICT ? eLearning, je dnes naprosto běžnou záležitostí. Existují však situace, kdy je nezbytné tuto metodu ještě více modernizovat a přizpůsobovat ji novým trendům. Můžeme přitom využít volných chvil, kdy většina z nás má poruce mobil, nebo třeba i PDA. Jedním z řešení této situace mohou být interaktivní multimediální kurzy využívající mobilní ICT v procesu vzdělávání. Do popředí se tak dostává pojem mLearning (mobilní eLearning). Pro uchopení možností, které mobilní ICT skýtají, příspěvek nastiňuje principy mLearning, jako nové, doplňkové formy vzdělávání založené na aktivním samostudiu a individuální práci studujících.
