An Analysis on the Factors Determining the RMB Appreciation.

Original language description

In July 2005, China depegged its currency from the greenback to peg a basket of other currencies. Since then, the yuan has appreciated against the greenback by about 14 percent until the end of the 2007. Furthermore, the market indicates it may raise another 8-10 percent against the dollar in 2008. Why China changes its forex regime? Why has the RMB always been appreciating since the reform? What influences has it on Chinese economy? What is the next step for China? In this paper, we firstly introduce the overview on China?s economy and the process of RMB appreciation, and then analyze the impact on China?s economy of the double surpluses and undervalued RMB. At last, we provide the suggestions to reach the China?s balances through the Swan Diagram.

Příspěvek se zabývá důvody změny měnového režimu čínského RMB a jeho vlivem na čínskou ekonomiku. Jedná se o analýzu procesu apreciace RMB ve vztahu k čínským reformám. Jsou zde analyzovány důvody podhodnocení měny. Rovnováha čínské ekonomiky je zde vysvětlována pomocí swanova diagramu, jež zachycuje vztah mezi zahraničním směnným kurzem a vnitřní a vnější rovnováhou ekonomiky.
