Since more than one year the financial and economic crisis are spreading around the world. The paper will provide an overview about the key facts of the crisis as well as social capital in order to analyze the influence of the crisis on the social capital and vice versa. Moreover the question will be posed if social values, norms and trust had an influence on the arising of the economic crisis. Finally it will be discussed which possible solutions to fight the crisis on firm level, inter-firm, regional,national and global level exist.
