Paper contains description of basic properties and characteristics of biometric authentication systems. Biometrics has been widely recognized as a powerful tool for problems requiring personal identification. The paper contains a general model for biometric authentication system. Author considers the impact of denial of access in biometrics-based authentication systems and how denial of access may impact on all major aspects of a biometric system and discusses solutions to this problem. There are discussed some problems unique to and propose solutions to several of these problems and some of the vulnerable points of a biometric system. Finally the paper summarizes of various types of failures biometric system and recapitulates the issues discussed andthe proposed new approaches.
