The world financial crises has brought significant negative impacts not only to the financial sector, it stands also for noticable economical downturn in the world. Between the basic reasons for emergence of crises phenomenon in the world economy can weinclude gradual and significant separation of real economy development from financial economy, unsufficient and low quality regulation of financial sector, amoral approach of financial institutions, rating agencies and other participants of financial market to the business with foreign financial resources and risk mismanagement. The target of this contribution is it to present chosen impacts of financial crises on the bank sector performance in the Slovak Republic. The balance sheet of the bank sector decreased by ca. 15% in 2009. The ratio of balance sheet to GDP decreased by 11%. The deposits grew decreased by 7%. The loans grew just by 1%.
