Regional policy, enterprise and innovation: some spatial relations
Original language description
Intangible factors of development, such as knowledge, innovation, human capital or entrepreneurialism are emphasized in modern theories of regional development. Not surprisingly, regional policies are often focused just on these factors of development. This is the case also of the Czech Republic where the importance of regional policy has substantially increased after its accession the European Union in 2004. Several operational programmes financially supported from EU financial mechanisms are relevantfor the themes of knowledge, innovation, human capital or entrepreneurialism. In the programming period 2007-2013, the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation belongs to the most important of them. This article analyzes spatial attributes of 5,244 projects supported from this operational programme until April 2011. Our findings show some mishmash between the equity and efficiency goals of regional policy.
