    How to succeed on the labour market. What do employers really expect?

    As a result of the economic crisis and changes of the inner environment the EU countries are far more exposed to competitive pressures. These factors influence the labour market and human resource management in the company. The development of unemployment rate and unemployment of young people in the labour market were parts of the research. Cluster analysis showed that the development of unemployment rate of young people in the Czech Republic is similar to countries such as Slovenia and Malta. Quantitative research among 1046 employers from Czech market was used to determine what criteria are considered as key for employing young people. A partial result of the study is that increasingly more employers choose employees based on their personal qualitiesand traits identified as soft skills. The most valued quality was flexibility and adaptability, willingness to learn, and loyalty. A detailed survey showed that there are differences between the preferences of Czech and foreign companies
