Measuring Efficiency With Dea: Application to Visegrad Group Countries
Original language description
This paper measures the innovation efficiency across the Visegrad Group using the data envelopment analysis (DEA). Their technical efficiency is calculated using a model containing the number of researchers, investments in R&D, and amount of invested venture capital as inputs and patents applied as output. Under constant returns to scale, Czech Republic and Poland are found to be efficient, whereas Hungary and Slovakia are shown to be inefficient. The results are compared with those of Denmark, Finland, Germany, and Sweden as the leaders in innovation performance of the European Union.
