Solving The Current Problems Of Urban Areas With Using Of Smart Technologies: Approaches Of Municipalities In The Czech Republic Within The Strategic Planning

  • Original language description

Problems in the transport and security sectors are currently among the most significant challenges facing municipalities in Europe. The national, regional and municipal levels of government must participate in solving these issues, each according to their capabilities and competencies. The municipal level of government is closest to these issues and its role in solving them is irreplaceable. The Smart City concept brings new possibilities in this respect. The paper deals with strategic approaches of municipalities in the Czech Republic to solving problems in the transport and security sectors using the Smart City concept. The research was focused on content analysis of strategic documents of a specific group of Czech regional capitals. This group of cities has been found to incorporate elements of the Smart City concept into their strategies, but only in partial form. However, a small group of four regional capitals has been identified that work comprehensively and systematically with the elements of the Smart City concept in their strategies. At the end of the paper is described future direction of research, in which the authors will continue.
