PPSA: Root-locus tuning technique for infinite-dimensional systems
Original language description
A novel methodology for tuning of controllers for infinite-dimensional control systems is the matter presented in this paper. Infinite-dimensional systems, typically time delay or distributed-parameters systems, own a spectrum with infinitely many poles.Pole-placement, pole-assignment or root-locus approaches constitute a distinguished family of controller tuning principles. This contribution introduces a quasi-optimal Pole-Placement Shifting based controller tuning Algorithm (PPSA) combining the Quasi-Continuous Shifting Algorithm (QCSA) with the desired feedback overshoot and general optimal numerical algorithms. The aim is to reach the desired finite-dimensional model, as close as possible, by poles shifting. The PPSA is demonstrated on the settingof parameters of controller for an unstable time delay system. This example, however, shows an important feature of infinite-dimensional systems ? that the spectrum of infinite-dimensional systems can not be placed arbitrarily
