Optimal feeding policy for a semi-batch reactor
Original language description
The paper deals with a control of the chromium sludge regeneration process. The process is strongly exothermic and nonlinear and runs in a semi batch chemical reactor. The temperature inside the reactor is mainly affected by the feeding speed of the chromium sludge into the reactor. The goal is to find suitable feeding to trace the in-reactor temperature near the setpoint. To control the real process a mathematical model based on mass and energy balances was set up. With the help of the mathematical model simulations were performed to find an appropriate control method. Several different methods were compared to achieve the best feeding profile. Feeding profiles obtained by the simulations were compared and discussed from the practical point of the view.
