This paper describes a hardware controller designed for a real-time control of laboratory thermal processes. Both hardware and software is presented in the paper. The controller can be applied to temperature control of various chemical and technologicalprocesses. The controller contains a temperature sensor and a pulse width modulation actuator for the AC power supply of a thermal process. Several control strategies are available for the temperature control including adaptive control. Control of heating mantle is presented as an example of a real-time application of the controller. Temperature control as a main part of measurement of shrinkage of collagen materials is also presented.
