Solid and liquid tannery waste dechromation
Original language description
The presented work is aimed on total recycling technology of chromium from solid and liquid wastes produced by the tanning industry. Solid wastes, especially chromium shavings, are processed by alkaline hydrolysis catalyzed with proteolytic enzymes, yielding soluble collagen hydrolyzate and insoluble alkali-reacting chromium sludge. The separated chromium sludge is used for the dechromation of spent tanning liquor. The designed and experimentally verified kinetic model of the spent liquor dechromation is then used for the determination of the optimal time for the control algorithm, where the residual chromium ions in the waste chromium liquid are precipitated with a solution of pure chemical.
