PROPOSAL OF HYBRID BCI APPLICABLE IN REHABILITATION
Original language description
This research paper proposes a non-invasive hybrid brain-computer interface (hBCI) applicable in rehabilitation. In the first section of this research paper, the theoretical information about BCI and hybrid BCI are explained. A non-invasive hybrid BCI is a combination and parallel usage of electroencephalography (EEG - electrical activity of the brain) and additional technology. In this research paper, the additional technology is surface electromyography (sEMG - electrical activity of muscles). In this proposal, we suggest using EEG device from Emotiv, which is called Emotiv Epoc+ and sEMG will be measured by Arduino UNO with SpikerShield board. These low-cost types of equipment fulfill the requirements and are among the most popular devices in this category. The last part of this paper is dedicated to the possibility of applying these methods in rehabilitation. This hybrid BCI proposal can be more functional than regular BCI because it can produce more accurate rehabilitation results.
