The Role of Nurses in Community Care in Zlín - Past and Present
Original language description
The paper aims to outline the situation concerning the first community-focused nursing work during the first-republic era in Zlín along with the current situation in community care. It describes community care outside hospitals, where nurses usually found employment. Due to the economic crisis the centre of their interests were especially children, youth, the poor, sick and the elderly. The paper describes activities of voluntary organizations that cooperated closely with the Zlín municipality, Bata hospital and Bata Support Fund in providing care to those in need. It was a wide range of primarily healthcare, nursing and social services in which nurses found employment. These activities were primarily oriented towards a specific group of individuals and the entire community, defined by Zlín political district.
