Magnetic and non-magnetic stratigraphic teleconections of high-resolution loess records: a new insight on Quaternary climate variations in Western Eurasia
Original language description
Loess represents one of most susceptible terrestrial archives of the past global climate variations. The combination of magnetic and non-magnetic (sediment colour and geochemical proxies) was used to correlate two key loess/palaeosol sections from the last glacial ?interglacial cycle, Dolní Věstonice in Central Europe, and Krasnogorskoye on the Altai Plains located ca. 7000 km apart. The results demonstrate that geochemical (element concentrations analysed by EDXRF and cation exchange capacity CEC), spectral reflectance (SR) and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) proxies provide an unique tool for transcontinental past climate change climato-stratigraphic linkage between Europe and SW Siberia.
