    Single-domain iron oxide nanoparticles for magnetically mediated hyperthermia

    In the current work the iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles prepared by coprecipitation method have been explored for the application in MMH. The X-Ray diffraction pattern of the powder corresponds to the inverse spinel structure of magnetite. The morphology and structure of nanoparticles are investigated by high-resolution scanning electron microscopy (HSEM). The particles are spherical in shape, about 14 nm in size, and are characterized by a narrow particle size distribution. Almost the same particle size was calculated from XRD line broadening data. Magnetostatic measurements of the powder show that it is a soft magnetic material with a high value of saturation magnetization (Ms), very narrow hysteresis loop, and low remanent magnetization. The valueof Ms is of 60 emu g-1, which is almost the same as for bulk magnetite (80 emu g-1).
