Electrorheology of suspensions based on carbonized poly(p-phenylenediamine) particles
Original language description
Particles obtained by the carbonization of nitrogen-containing conducting polymers have recently become a matter of intensive investigation of many researcher groups [1,2]. Such materials possessing carbon-like N-doped structure have been also investigated as a dispersed phase in electrorheological (ER) suspensions. Many conducting polymers have been prepared; however, ER behavior of suspensions based on their carbonized analogues has still not been sufficiently investigated. Plachy et al. [2] have introduced electrorheology of carbonized poly(p-phenylenediamine) PpPDA prepared with doubled amount of oxidative agent. In present contribution, PpPDA particles were prepared in the presence of single amount of oxidative agent, and mixed with silicone oil.So-prepared suspensions were investigated as novel ER fluids. The ER measurements were performed within electric field strengths 0.5 ? 3 kV mm?1. The ER fluids possessed very similar values of dielectric relaxation strengths; however, the
