Influence of the Type of CaCO3 on the Tribological Properties of PA66/CaCO3 Composites Evaluated by Ball-on-Plate Type Sliding Wear Tester
Original language description
The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of the type of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) on the tribological properties of calcium carbonate filled polyamide 66 (PA66/CaCO3) composites. Three types of CaCO3 in which manufacturing method and particle size are different were used as the fillers of composites. PA66/CaCO3 composites were melt-mixed by a twin screw extruder and injection-molded. Their tribological properties were measured by a ball-on-plate type sliding wear tester under dry condition. It was found that the tribological properties of PA66/CaCO3 composites show complex behavior according to volume fraction and the types of CaCO3. In particular, the type of CaCO3 strongly influences on these properties of highly filled composites.
